Allergy Overview

Two of the most common chronic diseases are allergies and asthma. Allergies are when the body’s immune system sees a substance as dangerous and reacts to it. Asthma is described as wheezing , coughing, breathlessness and chest tightness, and is caused by the airways narrowing or swelling. Typically, allergies and asthma are seen together. Nearly 45 million Americans are diagnosed with allergies or asthma.

Our allergists are experts in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of this chronic disease. They are responsible for diagnosing and treating asthma; allergic reactions to drugs, foods, and insect stings; coughing; wheezing; sinusitis, and other complex immune disorders. The best way to choose a treatment plan would be through an allergy skin test, food challenge or a blood test in our office.
