Two of the most common chronic diseases are allergies and asthma. Allergies are when the body’s immune system sees a substance as dangerous and reacts to it. Asthma is described as wheezing, coughing, breathlessness and chest tightness , and is caused by the airways narrowing or swelling. Allergies and asthma are often, but not always, seen together. Nearly 45 million Americans are diagnosed with allergies or asthma.
Our allergists are experts in the evaluation, diagnosis and management of allergies and asthma. They will diagnose and treat seasonal and environmental allergies, asthma, allergic reactions to drugs, foods and insect sings as well as coughing, wheezing, sinusitis and other complex immune disorders. When you come in for evaluation, your allergist will recommend testing and treatment that is right for you.
